Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
Cat Translator ("the app") is made by Furkan Kaya (Kaya Apps), an individual developer based in Türkiye ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: your recordings, photos and words stay on your iPhone or iPad; we use a small amount of usage and purchase data to run subscriptions, fix crashes and improve the app; we do not sell your data, show ads or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
1. What stays on your device
The app's main features work entirely on your device:
- Cat sounds you record. The microphone is used only while you hold the record button. The recording is analysed on your device to pick a playful interpretation and is kept on your device so you can play it back. Recordings are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
- Photos of your cat. A photo you take or pick for the mood feature, or as your cat's picture, is analysed and stored on your device only. Choosing a photo from your library uses the system photo picker, so the app only sees the photo you choose. If you allow it, the app can also save share cards to your photo library.
- What you type. Text you write to your cat and the chat history stay on your device.
- Your cat's profile. Your cat's name, breed, birthday, favourite sound and photo are stored on your device. The name and the photo are never sent anywhere.
You can delete the chat history, recordings and mood photos at any time in Settings → Clear history; deleting the app removes everything it stored. Data stored by the app may be included in your device's own backups (for example iCloud Backup), which Apple manages under your settings.
2. What we collect and why
We use two service providers. Neither receives your recordings, photos, typed text or your cat's name.
Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics)
- Product interaction: which screens you open and which features you use (for example "a translation was ready", "a game round ended", "the paywall was shown"), counted in ranges rather than exact values where possible. We use this to understand which features work and to improve the app.
- Device and app information: an app-instance identifier that Firebase creates for this installation, the app version, the device model, the operating system version and language.
- Coarse location: Google derives an approximate region (country or city level) from your IP address. We do not ask for or collect your precise location.
- Crash, performance and diagnostic data: when the app crashes or an error happens, a crash report with technical details (the code that failed, the screen, the app version and whether Premium is active) helps us fix it.
Advertising features are switched off: no advertising identifier (IDFA) is collected and ad storage and ad personalisation signals are disabled.
Adapty (subscriptions)
- Purchase history: your subscription status, the plan, its dates and the transactions Apple reports, so the app can unlock Premium and restore it.
- Device identifiers and IP address: a profile identifier that Adapty creates for this installation, the identifier for vendors (IDFV) and the IP address your device connects from, used to keep your subscription status and restore it. The profile is linked to the Firebase app-instance identifier so that subscription events can be counted together with app usage.
- Advertising data: if you installed the app from an Apple Search Ads advertisement, Apple's attribution token tells us which campaign led to the install. No advertising identifier is used.
- Profile attributes: the breed you picked (not the name), how you first got value from the app (for example a game or a translation) and the number of translations, used to understand which features lead to subscriptions.
Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Support emails
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to answer you.
3. Legal bases (EEA, UK and similar laws)
- Running subscriptions and restoring purchases: performance of our contract with you.
- Analytics, crash reports and Apple Search Ads attribution: our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it. Section 6 explains how to stop this collection.
- Answering support requests: your request.
4. Sharing
We share data only with the service providers above (Google LLC for Firebase, Adapty Tech Inc. for subscriptions) and only for the purposes in section 2, and with Apple for payments. We do not sell or rent personal data, we do not share it with data brokers and we do not use it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it. Google and Adapty may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under their own safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses). They process this data only on our behalf under their data processing terms and provide the same or equal protection of your data as described in this policy and as required by Apple's App Review Guidelines.
5. How long we keep data
- Firebase Analytics: event data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics (no longer than 14 months) and then deleted automatically; aggregated reports without identifiers may be kept longer.
- Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports are kept for 90 days.
- Adapty: purchase records are kept while the subscription profile exists and as long as needed for accounting and legal obligations.
- Support emails: kept as long as needed to handle your request and for our records, then deleted.
- Data on your device: until you clear it or delete the app.
6. Your choices and rights
- Stop analytics. The app has no accounts and does not know who you are: the data in section 2 is tied only to random identifiers created for this installation. The app has no analytics switch, so to stop the collection delete the app. That stops all further analytics, crash and attribution data, and a later reinstall starts with new identifiers that are not linked to the old ones.
- Delete your analytics data. Analytics and crash data are deleted automatically at the end of the periods in section 5. We cannot find one installation's data on request: the identifiers are random, the app does not show them and support emails do not include them. If you have a request anyway, email us (below) and we will tell you what we can do.
- Access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and objection: email support@kayaapps.com.tr with the subject "Privacy request". We answer within one month. Where we cannot identify you from the data we hold, we will tell you; if you give us information that identifies your data, we will act on it.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel them in your device's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or from the app's Settings → Manage Subscription.
- Permissions: you can turn the microphone, camera and photo access off at any time in iOS Settings.
- You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Tracking
The app does not track you. It does not use the advertising identifier, does not ask for tracking permission and does not combine your data with data from other companies for advertising.
8. Children
The app is a family-friendly entertainment app for cat owners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data on the device is protected by iOS data protection. Data sent to our providers is encrypted in transit.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.

12. Earlier versions (1.x)
Versions 1.x of the app (up to 1.0.6) offered an AI chat. In those versions only the text you typed into the chat was sent to Google Gemini (Google LLC) to generate playful replies; your name, email or other identifiers were not sent. Version 2.0 and later do not use Google Gemini or any other AI service: the interpretations are made on your device.
